IDS COMMUNITY
At IDS we are proud to offer an array of events that help foster our IDS community. Some of these include: Competition Team bonding trips, awards evenings and events, the much anticipated Junior school Teddy Bears Picnic, our highly regarded Informal Viewing Evening, Easter Raffle fundraiser, Christmas parties and our exciting annual Presentation evening.
These community events help us to develop a strong sense of school-pride and allow for fun outside the classroom where friendships blossom and memories are made.
IDS is honoured to receive ongoing support from members/parents of the IDS community who form our much-loved IDS Community Committee. The Committee helps to run our weekly canteen, special fundraising events and assists with costuming and prop support.
Annual Showcase
IDS’s dancing year is capped off in December each year with a spectacular end of year showcase. IDS showcases are a sell out and are held at the magnificent West Gippsland Performing Arts Centre which also hosts prestigious dance companies like The Australian Ballet and Chunky Move.
Students and parents enjoy a taste of real theatre, complete with full scale stage rehearsals, stunning costumes and props, stage make-up, lighting, music and of course, a live audience. This experience of performing on stage is vital in the development of young dancers, as well as being thrilling, exciting and fun!
Students display their magnificent competition and class achievements on stage for family and friends.
All classical students participate in IDS’s annual Character Ballet. Preparations commence in term three and require a number of Sunday rehearsals.
Class Viewing
Regular viewing weeks occur throughout the year as an opportunity for parents and family members to see how the classes run and how their child is progressing. Dates will be notified and confirmed in Term Newsletters.
